that is the question i asked of the person in charge of this one lpar (we merged with another agency and this one belonged to them). the person said that the reason they do not want to use dynamic dump allocation is because:
1. It can be on any old volume, including where you currently have SYS1.DUMPxx data sets. If you SMS manage then, you can have HSM, FDRABR, etc. archive them.
