we have a special case of the mainframe operations merging but the other agency still has its own network and a lot of non-mainframe computer stuff and we had to keep things running as un-interrupted as possible.
the network is the biggest headache - the powers that be refuse to allow outside access to the mainframe except for certain internet ports. this means that we cannot even get to the CICS TCP/IP and SOCKETS connections in the CICS regions on this lpar. Even though there is a city wide lan which most agencies are connected to, this one agency (which has alot of clout and money) refuses to join and we cannot get to theirs. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of McKown, John Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 12:13 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Changing name of SYS1.DUMP datasets > -----Original Message----- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Barkow, Eileen > Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 10:44 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Changing name of SYS1.DUMP datasets > > > thanks John for the info. > what you suggest about DFHSM is how we handle dumps on all of > our other > lpars. Oh, in that case (and I've been there), my response to them was "Do it my way or shut up and go away." Luckily my management backed the attitude of "no authority equals no responsibility". -- John McKown Senior Systems Programmer HealthMarkets Keeping the Promise of Affordable Coverage Administrative Services Group Information Technology The information contained in this e-mail message may be privileged and/or confidential.
