Ha... I thought so! ;) Yesterday when I saw your tagline, I thought it looked familiar. As in the same one as Jim Marshall...
I too tried to get into "DP" while I was stationed at Crystal City in the early 70's. However, the Navy would have nothing of it. So I had to spend my own time after hours hanging out in the basement of the Pentagon learning from the DP night shift. They were a smart bunch, especially one guy in particular. Unfortunately, his name escapes me at the moment. He helped me quite a bit and gave me the Navy's blue DP book on Data Processing to study (which I still have) and also taught me how to wire boards. Fun times... It took me a couple of years after discharge to get my act together before I took my first real programming class. Just kinda a wondered into it. The rest, as they say, is history. While it was not always fun, the worse time was when I first learned the "pitfalls" of SMP V3 (notice no "E"), but I would not trade it for anything. Well, other than being rich of course. :) On Wed Jan 30 6:49 , 'Richards, Robert B.' <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> sent: >Gary, > >I see that Jim has not responded yet, but I can assure you that he was a >Captain in the USAF.
