You would be surprised what "gets through". <SNIP> Not surprised, HORRIFIED! I've seen a patent granted that OBVIOUSLY violated an existing patent. A patent that was filed years after GA products (yes, PLURAL) were already doing what the claimant said they had discovered. And this is not just my opinion -- this one patent I refer to I was the expert witness in getting it declared void. The IP attorneys told me that this was not an unusual situation!
