Twenty-something years ago the Fortune 100 place I worked received a
bad licence key update from one of the above companies that resulted
in serious production downtime. Suffice it to say that more than one
lawyer achieved pleasing billable hours, formal letters flowed in both
directions, and a satisfactory agreement resulted, which included
among other things a never expiring key. I think in today's climate
the vendor would be very lucky to get off as lightly.

I think your anti-debugging idea is a very unwise path to go down if
you want your product to be taken seriously by mainframe shops.
