This discussion has led me to wonder if "SAD" standing for Standalone Dump is what the OP really meant.
Standalone Dump itself is not related to any kind of "restore".But of course if you have a "problem" and you had previously "dumped" a volume (or some such) you might be able to "restore" that volume.
