Standalone Dump itself is not related to any kind of "restore".But of course if you have a 
"problem" and you had previously "dumped" a volume (or some such) you might be able to 
"restore" that volume.

IMHO there are two different "Stand alone" things mentioned. And both require some drills to be prepared for.
One is SAD, which is a dump.
The second is SAR - Stand Alone Recovery, meant as DSS/FDR tool to restore from from tape. It is closely related to terms like recovery or restore.
