The OP said database. Since DB2 uses VSAM, I assumed IMS non-VSAM database.
Adabas also use PS datasets.

The OP hasn't complained about the database failing. I assume his problem has
been solved.
Sometimes the corruption occurs a little bit later.
I'm not saying it wasn't IMS, I'm not saying the problem was not solved.
Just commented assumptions which are - IMHO insufficient.
