Agreed for batch jobs.  Online applications may require more planning,
but the problem of brief catalog unavailability is manageable, must
indeed be manageable for a host of other reasons.

It seems to me that Mark "completely missed the main point of my
post", which was that the energy devoted to finding reasons for not
doing things might better be devoted to doing them.

Misunderstanding of this sort, purported or real, may, however, be
inescapable.  They come with disagreements.  Almost exactly 60 years
ago Bertrand Russell wrote

"The most influential school of philosophy in Britain at the present
day maintains a certain linguistic doctrine to which I am unable to
subscribe.  I do not wish to misrepresent this school, but I suppose
any opponent of any doctrine is thought to misrepresent it by those
