The Multiprise 2000 offered optional internal disk storage, but I don't think the internal disk used the SE for normal operations. I think the SE could configure internal disk settings, notably the amount of system memory allocated to the internal disk cache area. (Do we really mean HMC, by the way?)
My recollection is that the MP2000 predated FICON, so there was never any direct FICON attachment option. The Multiprise 2000 models ranged from a bit under 4 "MIPS" (capacity models 102 and 202) to about 160 "MIPS." (Insert disclaimer about MIPS comparisons here.) They were first introduced in 1996. The Multiprise 2000 cannot run any z/OS releases. However, the final release of OS/390 (2.10) is compatible with the Multiprise 2000. There were some Multiprise 2000 models that debuted after OS/390 1.3, so my recollection is there was some toleration maintenance required. It might be interesting to disconnect the tape devices to see if the problem persists. That might help isolate the root cause. I would obviously exercise extreme caution, and there are no guarantees. For the record, IBM has several upgrade options for Multiprise 2000 customers to help move to supported operating system releases and servers, and to enjoy new functional capabilities. One of those several options is the IBM SmartCloud for System z: http://www.ibm.com/cloud-computing/us/en/smartcloud-system-z.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy Sipples GMU VCT Architect Executive (Based in Singapore) E-Mail: [email protected] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
