We pull all software (as far as possible) electronically - as one of the other
posters mentioned it has Tax implications for us. We are now also all virtual
tape, with no physical drives.

One change I'd like to see would be the ability to receive all the doc into
the SMPNTS, just like we do the software. There is way more storage there than
on my laptop as well as faster connections to the net.

That alternative seems as though it might be worth looking at.

Since z/OS V1.13, we support the use of the NOVERIFY keyword on DFSMSdss
standalone RESTORE. Thus, the "traditional" prior DSF INIT is not
absolutely necessary any more. Also, standalone restore knows how to
use the HMC's file system to restore the Customized Offerings Driver
(COD) volumes from DVD.
