Well, "z/OS 2.1.0>SMP/E Version 3> SMP/E for z/OS Reference>Service routines>GIMZIP packaging service routine> Package attribute file> Tag syntax" says, "indicates the archive contains text data." Does that imply that RECEIVE verifies that the README does not contain binary data, such as a .PDF or .ODT?
I've also discovered that files present in the GIMZIP archive, but not mentioned in the GIMPAF.XML, are quietly ignored by RECEIVE. A supplier could smuggle more information in there. (But is that violating a specification?) I might wish for "<ARCHDEF TYPE=BLOB ..>". -- gil ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
