Yes, I do, or at least be able to figure it out fairly easily after the fact.

No one does, and that's the problem.

This I do know, or can figure out fairly easily after the fact if I need to 
know.  Only one bullet in a very long list of why I prefer Linux over Windows.  
Never surrender the requirement to be _able_ to know what just happened when 
you did that install.
