We did that same thing. We put the three lpars from the small box into a
capacity group on the bigger box. We set the group capacity (MSU) to the same
as what the small box had. As others have said the issue is to get the vendors
to accept subcapacity licensing. We had a struggle with a few vendors.

Thanks..

Subject: Moving to capped LPARs

We'd like to move a few ISV products from a small CEC to a larger CEC with
capped LPARs. The capped LPARs would be no larger than the small-CEC LPARs
they're in now. The question is whether anyone has experience in this sort of
move. In particular, would these vendors likely agree to such a move? The list
includes

LRS (VPS and DRS)
System Ware (JHS)
BMC (CONTROL-D/V)
CA (TPX)

Of course we are contacting the vendors directly. Just want a feel for others'
experience. We've never done this before.
