For some reason I got pulled into a battle between keypunch supervisor and 
operations manager over 'numerous key errors'. Ended up programming a 3-drum 
029 solution that would tab and verify to the correct fields. Happy campers for 
a long time 'til somebody lost one of the drums.

IIRC, they are called spread cards. So you punch x number of 
characters in card one for your logical record. Now you have a 
special character (IIRC) and you start the next. Once you hit 80, 
card feed, and start over at 1, etc.
