I have not yet received confirmation from an IBMLink PMR related to ShopzSeries not displaying z/VM 5.3.0 for ordering, but...
ShopzSeries is *now* displaying z/VM 5.3.0 as orderable, and has accepted the first of my two orders (the second is in progress now). Has anyone else been able to place an order for z/VM 5.3.0 on ShopzSeries since the first order date; published in the z/VM Announcement Letter as Friday June 15, 2007? I tried last Friday June 15 but only z/VM 5.2.0 showed up. This has happened on ShopzSeries with previous "first day" VM order dates, so I called in. Very nice, polite people answered my call and said (as in past VM orders) that sometimes ShopzSeries needs an extra "24 hour cycle time" for new product order dates. Personally I find that pretty lame. If a product is announced as ready to be ordered on a given date, then all involved parties should work to make that happen, or publish word that the target date will be delayed. Maybe IBM should re-assign Jim Elliott to this? :-) So I waited until today, Monday June 18 to try another z/VM 5.3.0 order on ShopzSeries. Same result: only z/VM 5.2.0 is orderable. Maybe someone thinks it should be called ShopzOSseries? <sigh> I know orders won't start to be processed until June 29, but I don't really want to be forced to spend time trying each day until our two orders can be finally accepted.
