Yes, IBM *finally* removed spool and page from the IPL vol. Install it second level, and define two minidisks, format them with DSF using the MINIDISK option, and allocate your page and spool space on them. When you go production, SPXTAPE the SPOL stuff from the 2nd level system, IPL the 5.3 system on the real iron, and SPXTAPE LOAD. No extra spool/page volumes needed.
