Ditto what Bruce says. I've got 2 streamlined collar anodes on the prop shaft and a 3 or 4" diameter "rudder" anode on the strut.
The rudder anode looks like two discs, one on each side of the strut. The discs are attached with a bolt through the strut.) Don't obstuct the water flow into the cutlass bearing when you attach the shaft anodes. Be sure to leave a 1/4" or 1/2" between the shaft anode and the cutlass bearing. On average, they last about 8 months, depending on what boats move into the area.... the diver checks them every 4 months and replaces them as indicated. I'd recommend the anodes that erode from the outside surface inward. It's easier to tell when they're almost consumed. They have a small percentage of cadmiumin added to the alloy. It’s getting pock marked. I’m thinking the flat kind that power boaters use . I could drill and tap a hole to attach it. The rubber inside the cutlass bearing electrically isolates the strut from the shaft so the shaft zinc can’t protect the strut. The bronze thru-hulls would be protected by a bonding wire, although I don’t have one and they are in great shape for an old boat (and Nigel Calder doesn’t recommend bonding the thru-hulls - he states they will actually deteriorate faster if attached to a bonding wire. I checked catalina direct that they didn't have much in the way of parts. I want to be sure I am not missing any when I splash the boat.
