I would love to get the dimensions of you bracket. I'm about to mount a 9.9 Honda on my C27 and will have the exact same problem. Your solution looks like the best.

It works well and was very strong but puts the tilt controls our of reach, I have rigged 2 lines; one to lull to unlock so the engine can be lowered and one to unlock to raise the engine. There is also a block and tackle to raise the engine out of the water and to lower it. It is a very heavy engine about 150lbs. I was wondering if it would be reccomended to have a stainless steel backing plate made or if I will be ok to use a thick piece of wood as the backing plate for the motor mount?
