Thanks Joe, even just the distance that the bracket extends from the boat would
be great.

Cheers, Mike

I will be down at the boat this weekend and I will see if I can measure it.
The problem is it is in the water and not real easy to reach..

I would love to get the dimensions of you bracket. I'm about to mount a 9.9
Honda on my C27 and will have the exact same problem. Your solution looks like
the best.

  Thanks, Mike

My boat came with a Honda 9.9 too large for the "hole" so the PO had a
custom bracket made to mount the engine at exactly the same height above the
water just about 14"-16" further aft. It works well and was very strong but
puts the tilt controls our of reach, I have rigged 2 lines; one to lull to
unlock so the engine can be lowered and one to unlock to raise the engine.
There is also a block and tackle to raise the engine out of the water and to
lower it. My image folder on the website has a picture if you are interested.,

    Hello,

I recently purchased a new Suzuki 9.9 to mount on the back of my Catalina
27. It is a very heavy engine about 150lbs. I was wondering if it would be
reccomended to have a stainless steel backing plate made or if I will be ok to
use a thick piece of wood as the backing plate for the motor mount?

    Thank you in advance,

    James Lawhun
