looks like a previous owner already put in the retrofit i-bolt kit. As I have all the pieces and I'm working on a tight budget I'd rather not drop the 90 bucks to get the u-bolts (though it looks like a considerably stronger design). If i wanted to re-install the pieces I already have how would I go about it?

It sounds like you need the shroud plate upgrade kit from Catalina Direct. My guess is that if your boat doesn't have them, it also probably has the original spreader brackets.

Hey guys,

I'm new to the group (and the boat too i suppose, I've been the proud
owner of my C27 'Joy' for just over 6 months) and have recently
encountered some problems after a coastal cruise from SF to monterey
and back. Getting caught in some tough wind heading back north the
deck fitting for the port front lower shroud pulled right out of the
deck (we made it back ok, but i know understand why one should own a
dodger). I have all the pieces, and I just wanted to know if anyone
knew the best way to reattach this mounting. I was thinking simply
epoxy (105) and remounting the hardware and screws (being sure to look
over all the other deck fittings).

I'm worried, however, that the source of the problem is somewhat
deeper (no visible force or stress could be seen on any of the
mounting or deck glass). is there anything else I should be aware of?

Also, I have noticed that all the deadlights have a slight leak now
when raining (what I assume is a result of the hull contorting enough
to break the seals around them all). whats the best way to remove
these and re set them and how much time should I set aside.

Thanks for the help and its really great to see such a great network
for a great boat.

Loren
