Hello Everyone and thank you for all of the great advice! I am looking to purchase an 80W+ panel for my Catalina 27 and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good brand. Also has anyone installed a similar size panel and if so where did you locate it on your boat? I am thinking about the top of the companion way hatch with the drawback of having to unplug it when I move the hatch to open it.
Thank you in advance, James ________________________________ From: Sonshingle <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, April 15, 2010 7:20:31 PM Subject: Re: [IC27A] Re: Solar system [was: Inconvenient battery installation on Catalina 27] Judy, Probably a weekender system. We are at a dock and have 120v all the time. I keep a small fan running to keep the air circulated and it does also run an automatic charger wired direct to the batteries. We don't have any mooring facilities here or near here. I can see that a trickle system would be great for boats that are moored. Do you do most of your sailing in the bay there or do you go out in the big lake (Pacific) west of you? Was ini SF once andl oved it. I must go back some time. The California coastline is a beautiful drive.
