Hi Todd,

It should be a Whale Gusher but that's not enough information to order the
exact replacement yet. Models have changed over time.

I take it the "Bad" pump wasn't in the junk with the boat. If you can lay
your hands on it, if it's not physically damaged, there should be a rebuild
kit for it. It's a diaphragm pump and typically they'd fail for two reasons.
1) They swallowed a piece of debris that is holding one of the two valves
open, or 2) the rubber diaphragm cracked like an old radiator hose. The
repair kits are very nominally priced and provide everything you need to
rebuild it.

Subject: [IC27A] New Boat/ Manual Bilge pump.

Hello, my name is Todd and I am a new member. I recently purchased a 1978
C27. I am moving up from a Freedom Yachts F21. We are very excited about the
new boat and more space for cruising with the kids.

I am sure I will have many questions. First is does anyone know the brand
and model of the manual bilge pump that mounts inside the port cockpit
locker just in front of the motor well? The prior owner said it was bad and
removed it to replace it but never got around to it.

I have spent the past 2 mornings cleaning out the junk. Every compartment,
locker, drawer, nook and crany was stuffed to the top. I bet I have taken
over 600 lbs of useless stuff out of the boat. Lots of extra stuff and
parts, but lots of garbage too. So now it's on to cleaning and then putting
the 15% of needed items back onboard. I figure we will be sailing with a
full crew lighter than the last owner had the boat sitting at the dock.

Todd
