Gary, If I'm not correct, 1984 models had most of the Factory upgrades
installed by then.

I think I'd ask WHY were the keel bolts replaced? I believe Catalina started
using SS bolts a couple years before '84.
I could be wrong, but..... I'd still check with the owner as to why?
A bad grounding? Storm damage ?
You may be looking at an Insurance TOTALED boat that's been resurrected.. I'd
be a bit cautious.

Where has the boat sailed ? Where will YOU be sailing a boat?
Again, It would be very helpful if you indicated WHERE you, or the Boat is
currently located.
Someone here on the list, may KNOW the boat and be better able to advise you.

Important for anyone asking Questions about a boat..(Buy, Selling or Operation
of ) Catalina made so many variations of our boat....
Where you and the boat are? And as much info about the model .. as possible.
Those Basic bits of Information....Are a MUST to be able to intelligently
answer...... IMHO.

Otherwise, answers could be Vague and General in nature.
That may result in Good money being thrown at Bad advise.

Ralph Ahseln

I am looking at a 1984 Catalina 27 on Saturday. Second visit to see
her and would appreciate your insight. Deck and spars are in good
shape. Some cracking in the teak ends of the traveler. Hull is solid
from water line up. Was told keel had stainless stell bolts replaced 3
yrs ago. No inboard and has a 10hp motor.
So, what can you tell me to look for?
