Thanks Mike,

My boat is a 2004 as you've guessed.  I also have a cam cleat at the base of 
the mast, and wondered it would work to run that line back to the cockpit with 
the cam cleat there!  I guess as you say it all boils down to personal 
preference.  I guess there's no harm in trying it both ways, eh?
