Greetings, Glad to meet you. I'm in the Portland OR area as well. Sorry I can't help on the move. But, I understand there are a couple of reliable trucking firms close by. I would suggest that you contact SCHOONER CREEK BOAT WORKS (503) 735-0569 to find out if they recommend one. You'll probably launch at Schooner Creek anyway.
I'd also suggest that you Subscribe to the CASCADIA SAILING email list. See the web page: www.sailcascadia.org It's a fun bunch of Pacific Northwest sailors and a source of invaluable local information. Someone there may be able to help. A SUB group of the Cascadia gang is the M.I.S.T.Y.'s . About 25 folks. All of whom are in the Portland area. While you're at the WEB page, Take a look at the section "WWWW". It's full of boating info. Do join the Cascadia sailing group. There's a lot of information available from the nearly 140 members. Any information about Sailing the Columbia River, I'd be glad to share my 35 years of sailing here. Also, I have written and can print out a Guide for the lower river. Where one can moor and/or anchor as well as fuel stops from Portland to the Pacific Ocean. can be seen at my Web page www.315true.com . Plus, I can print up a mileage chart for 100 miles up and 100 miles down the river that I've authored. All available on request. These and some other stuff I've written can be seen on the Cascadia Web Site as well. Have you found a moorage in Portland ? There's some good and some bad. Welcome, and we hope to see you on the river soon.
