Put your winter cover on your transom  ... Centermount a fourstroke (Mine is a 
Honda 9.9) on a stainless mounting bracket... you now have all of that extra 
stowage and  quiet dependable auxillary propulsion .... Enjoy!

We just replaced our 82 with a Yamaha 8 long shaft high thrust. They had to 
custom make the cover so it tilts but it with the new cover it is perfect!
