Isn't that the $64,000 question?  In Hreggur's case I think it was
many years of just not using those muscles.  He had developed a sort
of hard wiring for it.  Every time I managed to get him into canter,
it was like he was shot out of a cannon.

I'll be interested to hear responses from others who have experienced
this and succeeded in developing a controlled canter.  It's a problem
with these pacey ones.

Does she hard pace in pasture? Canter?
