i just wish i knew how to get Tivar in a canter. i saw Shirley do it
and he has a sweet gentle canter. but with me he just goes faster and
faster and faster and when I know he has to break into a canter I feel
like he is waiting for a cue. He does an amazing speed trot that is
very smooth tho :) But my only real serious concern is that my horse
stonewall will not canter if the saddle isnt right. So I worry about
saddle issues... but he seems perfectly relaxed, and his ears seem to
be tuned on me... its hard to describe but somehow I just know he's
"waiting" for something to break into canter. maybe we havent gone
fast enough yet tho... he has a very animated action at lower speeds
so there really hasnt been much need. And I am just an ordinary every
day trail rider so I dont know anything about formal gait transitions,
i mean, to me, if a horse transitions its his idea cause he needs
to... unless he's going too fast and I ask them to a slower
transition, thats the only transition I insist on...
