>>>> Sounds sort of what I'm going through--even with Orri bolting with me,
I prefer riding him or Gat rather than the school horses. The school horses
never gave me any reason for not feeling secure with them other than they're
not mine.

Virginia, when you're ready to start back riding Orri, here's a tip that's
helped me with my problem horses over the years. (Holly somewhat, but
mainly Gracie while we were sorting out her back issues, ANY horse when I
was getting over my injury...) Can you find a really easy-going, low-key
and confident rider to get on him first, and just do a very ho-hum ride
around the ring for a few minutes? I'm not talking about anyone who will
try to "work" him in any way, just do a little relaxed walking until he's
ready to MAYBE trot or gait a little. No goals, just a little relaxed
pleasure ride from someone who's not expecting the worst. It helps me
tremendously to SEE my horses being good. I don't know if your instructor
would be the right one - maybe, but maybe he's a little too used to
"working" the horses?
