I think that's why we have this list.... to get away from that type of thinking. It's a very old paradigm and very unfair to the horse. Even the wording is wrong: "taught a lesson". To teach a lesson, you teach; you have a receptive student. It's not a matter of "I'll show you!" with punishment that has nothing to do with the behavior, and no way of showing the horse, in a way that he can understand, what you DO want.
