Well, here is a perpective from the Parelli student in Iceland.  
Unfortunately, she doesn't see anything wrong with it.  But this is one 
of her first posts from a few years ago and maybe her perspective has 
changed.

"By the way, did any of you know that here in Iceland during the winter 
there are often held riding competitions on ice. Sometimes in ice 
stadiums and sometimes on frozen lakes. How cool is that "
