>>>>> But again, the question I still have - I'd love to honestly hear about
others who have had a bit pulled through a horse's mouth that they were
riding. I've stuck my neck out to be criticized, but I really don't think
I'm alone on this happening to me.

I had it happen only once with me...the first time I took Holly to a Dave
Seay clinic probably in 1992. Holly was VERY "hard-mouthed" - ok, she was
actually braced over her whole body. Anyway, it was embarrassing in front
of a crowd, but I didn't have a halter in the arena to switch to. Dave
found a piece of hay twine and tied her a little "curb strap" for me. An
orange twine curb strap...in front of a crowd. That was mortifying. At
lunch I went to the trailer and got her halter to work her with...and I've
never cared for loose-ring bits since.

Oh, and Holly is the reason I learned to do this stuff from the ground
first. If they can respond from the ground in a halter, they don't need a
bit anyway.
