thanks for telling how to make these safer anna, i have pipe gates too. I too had to string electric wire, and inset it about two feet on each side so any horse goes near it within two feet gets zapped. I am sorry about your skutla, that is heartbreaking. my donkey curly ray aggravates my horses across the fence and they nip play at each other if the electric is off. one day I watched curly ray stick his head thru the bars and try to bite stonewall, stonewall looked and saw him trying and casually stepped TOWARD him and when he nipped, kicked at him and bent the pipe at the bottom. that was when the wire was down and electric off. but amusing how stonewall was enjoying that drama!
