Yep - be nice, Nancy!  Seriously, I know that feeling.  A few months ago I
read a glowing report on another list about a clinic someone attended -
coincidentally in Oregon.  I about choked when I read who the clinician
was - a guy from my immediate area that I always thought...ok, be nice,
Karen!


The corollary though, is when people think that because someone is from
afar, they MUST be good...especially if they have an accent!  And that isn't
just an Icelandic-horse-community phenomena - I know it was common with
Germans when dressage first got popular in the USA too. Most of my life,
I've worked in consulting engineering, and the common joke definition of
"consultant" is that they live more than 50 miles from where they work...and
sometimes, I'm afraid that there's some truth in that...
