>>>> Just measured Gloi and Falki right after feeding while they were at their >>>> hay. I measured from the edge of the lip/mouth around to the center of >>>> the mouth/nose. In other words if you went all the way around from one end of the mouth to the other and divided by two that's what I've got. Looking at your photos I wasn't sure where you ended. Both theirs were just over 4 3/4 inches. From the top of the nostril to the closest point that touches the lip was 4 inches so by Robyn's standards, both my boys have long mouths.
I took Falki to the first Liz Graves clinic I attended. I rode Trausti, but Liz used Falki as a model for several of her lectures. She agreed that Falki has an easy mouth as Icelandic's go. He also doesn't have a particularly low palate as many Icelandic's do, so he's a horse that can be comfortable in about any mild bit. I used a French link (peanut center) bit on him, or a mullen mouth Tom Thumb snaffle, or just a halter and lead line. He was fine in any of them - and didn't you use a Myler when you rode him with Liz? He seemed fine with that one too. Runa, however, was a little fussy with the French link snaffles (not the peanut center type, but the "normal" French link) so I tried a Myler that I had on her. Bingo. She seems to do well with it. She's the first horse I've had that actually seemed to prefer a Myler over a normal French link - some have done ok with a Myler but it didn't seem to be a particular favorite. I haven't measured Runa's mouth, but her lips appear short to me. Karen Thomas [EMAIL PROTECTED] No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
