I don't know why either.   I think (unless someone proves otherwise in the
course of this thread) weight is being added to horse's legs to change their
natural way of going under the guise of "protection" with some of these
boots.

Now, I'm not saying anyone who puts bellboots on a horse is trying to
manipulate it.    But beyond the weight of the generic "normal" protective
bellboot everyone uses in other breeds, the intention for their use gets
very suspect.
