are you missing any of the new programs/features which made you switch
to newer version.
I firmly believe in "if it ain't broke don't fix it". On my old
computer I used the same works fine distro and newer versions for new
features were got using virtualbox.
You could experiment with and choose new distros using live cd if they
work for you or install on a second partition before switching.
