Are you saying that you're changing the distro due to non-availability
of the apt version of firefox?
You can get your own firefox easily.
Download the latest binary of firefox from their website. It will be
in an archived form which you can extract to a folder in your home
directory or elsewhere. You can click on the executable there to use
that firefox. System firefox is not important. if flash is necessary
the .so file can be put in the plugins folder therein to have a
working firefox. Default firefox one not being there is a non-issue.
This is the method I use for latest firefox on old distro also.
If this is the only issue, you can still use your old system with this
new firefox.

Gajendra
