The last time I lay my hands on a Windoze machine was in 1993. Ever
since I have done *all* my work on first a Solaris and then once
Linux matured, I shifted my workstation onto it. I even run one of
my Sun sparc stations on Linux. However, I must say that as far as
scalability id concerned, Linux has a long way to go to be like Solaris.

Some of the things I use for my daily needs -

        Email - Emacs/VM
        WordProcessing - Latex
        Image manipulation - GIMP
        Scientific graphs - Gnuplot
        Diagrams - xfig
        SDK - wpe (sun)
