I know that I am attracting massive flames, but here goes anyway...

Well, I'll be honest... One of the primary needs for me to keep Win9x on my
machine is for my Dad. No matter how gung-ho I/We are about Linux, I still
feel that ppl like my Dad find Windows more intutive for him to learn ( He
nodding in affirmative even as i type this in !).

It was just the other day that I was ruminating on this very topic with one
of my friends, who was down from the US. We both agreed that Linux IS
making the prospect of UNIX as a desktop OP System more 'user-friendly' but
unlike us command-prompt lovers the 'average' user will definitely go in
for the combo which offers them the max ease of use.... And now do not get
me wrong but Win9x has alreadt come to a just which 'almost' come to a
point where MOST major stuff can be just 'point-&-click'. Also true for
Linux, BUT for most things evn in X we DO have to drop down to the XTerm !

So let's hope you shall soon see a post with my Dad's rxn to Star Office
and Word Perfect in X.... because no matter how mucg we purists rave about
Linux, it is ONLY when ppl like our parents find Linux 'easy' to digest,
will it truly be 'popular' !
