People do not buy things for inherent technology, few people do. They
buy things for value. Sony had the best technology for video resolution
--Betamax but a far inferior res-technology VHS from Matshushita ruled
the day as they also figured out a longer playing time and designed VCRs
to play them.

That's what Linux is an array of open source (and much improved than
Microsoft's) software on the basic kernel of Linus Torvalds.
