Hi,

I have disposed of my old m/c, and got a new one. I tried to install
slackware,
since last time I had installed slackware, it went like a breeze. (Even the
RedHat-5.2, which I installed later, didn't give me problems !!). But this
time
all is not well :-(

Here are some of the problems I am facing:

1. My video chipset is Trident 9420 (if I recall that correctly), with 4MB
video
ram. slackware is using the driver for Trident 9000, and can only detect 1MB
ram on the card - Explicitly changing it in XF86Config did not work. X is
bloody well not running, even though ps shows fvwm-95, clock, X:0 etc. have
already been spawned. (SuperProbe is detecting 2MB Ram, but the ram is in
reality 4MB).

2. The mouse is Genius three button. Microsoft or MouseMan Protocol (opts.
1 and 2 respectively), are unable to detect the mouse.

3. I have installed LILO in MBR, with two bootable partitions mentioned as
dos
and linux. The delay is given as 50 (5 seconds). Though LILO is waiting for
the
input for 5 seconds, it is not really taking any input, and after 5 seconds
is
booting to the first default partition - if dos is default, it is booting
Win-98, and
if linux is made default it is booting Linux.

4. (non-Linux) fdisk /mbr is not able to restore the MBR. The m/c is just
hanging,
means even keyboard is not responding.

Any help will be appreciated.
