Hi everybody,
I agree I do not have much background information on whats been happening in
ilug-cal earlier. so its been sort of an awakening for us new members. But I
would still like to point out a few issues which I feel are very important
if ilug-cal has to expand as a group.

I have mentioned earlier also that overchampioning of linux is dangerous for
linux. their are graphical browsers available which work on dos (286, 386
incl) instead of making them terminals it would be better if instead they
are used this way. the issue we are discussing here is the rage in the west
too where schools are having a much tougher time.

free need not be absolutely free. however I agree that sometimes it might
mean a little to much of a load.

This is something I do object to. The ilug as a group should act as the
consultant, this way the group will feel ownership of the project. As for
the schools not being able to afford you. I am sure they can afford the
ilug. funds generation is a big issue. and what better way than by helping
schools /instis which need it. I am sure others would agree that we need to
help indra in generating funds. he is already contributed quite a bit.

I hope we contribute enough so that one person does not have to contribute
so heavily again. I agree indra feels a lot about this group because he
started it, but if it has to flourish than others have to contribute. If the
previous trend continues than even linus cant help it.

I apologize if my email caused any misunderstanding. However, I emphasize
once again the need to represent "ilug" in a slightly different fashion. A
start could be this collective effort.
ciao
