I think this is sensible. That way we can atleast get the CPU's to work
rather than them remaining as dumb terminals. However, this is for 286s
only. We _could_ remould the 386 into Linux , maybe get them on with
bare minimum X and WMs, and put in BASIC, As, PAscal, gcc with some kind
of IDE. ISC (XII) students have C++ in their course so they could benefit
from a good C++ compiler. Also we could show them the real plus point of
the Unix environment, the svgalib, and the proggie tools like indent,
lint, debuggerz etc.

And no, I wouldn't recco building Beowulves with 386s ;)

Absolutely ditto with Alok on this. The money should stop flowing from
only the core group's pockets, esp indra.

To drive it a step further, I propose a monthly malloc of Rs 10 /- for
students and Rs 25/= for employed/self employed individuals. Then we can
build up a fund deposit and maintain an account with a bank. Registration
etc could come in later.. we need only a constitution for this. AFAIK,
indra has already worked on a consti which is abt 80% headway. If we keep
some basic points and subject the rest to later amendments, we can go
ahead with the money collection.I mean, people can and should be ready
to shed in this much (little) for their beloved Penguin.

Anybody seconding my proposal ?
