Very true.... to illustrate the point -> during the meeting on 9th of May, 1999, I 
managed to collect Rs. 1700 for our
domain registration funds from the members, the collection of the remaining Rs. 1500 
took me more than two months to
gather together, not to say anything about the innumerable phone calls to the people 
who had pledged to contribute,
numerous reminder emails, number of visits to people's places to collect the money. 
Let me tell you it was no easy task,
particularly if approached in an unstructured, ad-hoc manner. And on top of that 
unless everything is documented in
absolute black-and-white, questions may arise about the handling of the money and the 
integrity of  the people involved.

They do at times.... for example Manash contributed his share when he came to Calcutta 
to attend LI- '99... Making the
collections from IITKGP could perhaps be handled as like JU there can be someone of 
our group to take care of it
locally. Anyway, AFAIK there are just about 3 members from KGP on the list....
