Correct me if I am wrong, but the "free" in the above sentence is the
freedom to _take away_ freedom. The BSD license does not prohibit me
from taking a copy of the BSD code (which is accessible to all in source
form), making changes it and then calling the whole thing "proprietary"
and withholding the (modified) source. That is why commercial folks love
it so much.

On the other hand, the GPL specifically entails that if I make changes
to a GPLed source, I may sell my program commercially but then, I MUST
GIVE TO THE BUYER THE SAME RIGHTS THAT THE GPL GAME ME! Namely, access
to the full source code (modifications and all) alongwith the right to
modify it as he pleases. That is why the commercial types hate the GPL
so, going even to the extent of calling it a cancer.
