Correct me if I am wrong, but the "free" in the above sentence is the freedom to _take away_ freedom. The BSD license does not prohibit me from taking a copy of the BSD code (which is accessible to all in source form), making changes it and then calling the whole thing "proprietary" and withholding the (modified) source. That is why commercial folks love it so much. On the other hand, the GPL specifically entails that if I make changes to a GPLed source, I may sell my program commercially but then, I MUST GIVE TO THE BUYER THE SAME RIGHTS THAT THE GPL GAME ME! Namely, access to the full source code (modifications and all) alongwith the right to modify it as he pleases. That is why the commercial types hate the GPL so, going even to the extent of calling it a cancer. - Manas Laha -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
