Hi ,

        Always create /boot partition before 10 GB of your HDD , then do what you 
like & after installation if lilo do not work boot with a floppy or cd & open 
the file /etc/lilo.conf & find a line having "linear" , change it with lba32 
then go to /sbin & give ./lilo -v . I think it may solve your problem.
