Hi, I have couple of quick questions regarding the connection between GTK and gnome.
* Does something written in GTK run better on Gnome environment. Is it possible to write something exclusively using gnome without using GTK? * Can the same logic be applied to KDE and QT? * It seems certain GUI toolkit for X window system is married to some specific desktop framework. Does it have any technical or historial background. Any resource will be highly helpful. * Other than two mentioned above, we do have others like tcl/tk, fltk, fox toolkit, wxwindows. Are they compatible/suitable for any other X-window manager. -siddhartha > Gnome is a desktop framework which enables things > such as communication > between applications, a virtual filesystem etc. > > GTK is simply a widget toolkit, providing items like > text boxes, spin > buttons, labels, viewports etc. A program written > with GTK can run > independantly of Gnome - all you need are the Gtk > libs. So, even if you > run KDE you can still run a GTK app. > ________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! India Promos: Win TVs, Bikes, DVD players & more!
