Different variants have been used in the same sense. Niddham, Nirdam, Nidram,
Nirdaam can be found ... prakrit usages are more difficult to deal with. Hala (Salivahana ?)'s Satasai has all four versions. Meanings change with time, often severely. This has happened with sanskrit too and there are many problems with reliability of commentaries by later authors. In some modern South-Indian languages of course nidra(h) can be found, but there are all kinds of colloqial versions
The intended meaning of nirdaam or the other variants suggested in the linux context is what I find more awkward. M$ too says linux is free as in free market, but it is another thing that they are feeling the 'communism' in it. The meaning of free market is one of explicit or hidden evil except of course for those who have it in their hands or are just brain-washed. A reference to "free market" is political in nature. The market part is for those who are in it and as linux support counts ... it is on solid ground. We must ensure that they do not do evil market things.
